Javornik, A. (2016). What marketers need to understand about augmented reality. Harvard Business Review. Retrieved from: https://hbr. org/2016/04/what-marketers-need-to-understand-about-augmented-reality

Summary

This article provides a definition and discussion of Augmented Reality (AR) and its potential commercial applications.  Through test and study, Javornik demonstrates the potential impact of AR on adoption and consumer attitudes for commercial enterprises and the potential of AR to monetize AR into sales.  One of the key success factors to make AR viable is to ensure that it enhances what already exists.  Indeed the context in which AR is used is key.

Experience

I don’t have much personal experience with AR.  However, in reading this article and thinking about my current work, I can see many opportunities where it may enhance an existing process and/or create efficiencies where there were none before.

KEYWORDS: AR, overlay, physical, interaction, sales, convenient, adoption
