Abrami, R. M., Kirby, W. C., & McFarlan, F. W. (2014, March). Why China Can't Innovate And What It's Doing About It. Harvard Business Review, 1-6.

Summary

This article sheds light on China’s historical issues with innovation. Through an exploration of top down, bottom up, through acquisition and education we begin to see how China is approaching the complexities of becoming a world leader in innovation.

Experience

My experience with China is mostly due to working with them as a place to outsource activities for the functions I support. What I do see is that, as a country, they are making a lot effort to be more open to innovative approaches developed outside China. Case in point, is their willingness to adopt a more global approach to animal testing when working with sponsors of studies outside the US.
